The United Nations My World survey, which was launched on 17 July 2014, asked participants from across the globe to vote on what development goals mattered to them the most.
Using grassroots partnerships and technology unavailable when the Millennium Development Goals were set in 2000, the My World survey involved people everywhere in helping draft development priorities for the future that are meaningful and relevant.
Using a combination of offline, online and mobile phone technologies, the survey reached some of the most marginalised members of society. More than seven million people from 194 countries voted, representing one in every 1 000 of the Earth's citizens.
Who voted?

The vast majority of votes (over five million) were collected offline via paper ballots

The overwhelming majority of participants are young people under 30, from low to medium HDI (Human Development Index) countries

There is almost equal participation by men and women
Participants were asked to pick six out of 16 priorities for a better life. Their answers have helped build a dataset like none other. Not only does it paint a clear picture of what people want, but it shows that this holds true whoever you are, or wherever you live.

On 12 December 2014 the UN released the results of the My World survey.
