The sixth annual Trek4Mandela Kilimanjaro climb in support of vulnerable girls kicks off on Wednesday 12 July 2017.
Media are invited to be part of, and cover, the send-off of this year's 23 climbers, among them Nelson Mandela Foundation Chief Executive Sello Hatang. The climbers will be led by renowned South African adventurer Sibusiso Vilane on an expedition that aims to collect sanitary towels for schoolgoing girls.
This year’s Trek4Mandela expedition aims to raise awareness that will help to keep 500 000 girls in school, where they otherwise would miss school because of a lack of sanitary towels during their menstrual cycle.
Individuals can support the climbers by contributing to the fundraising efforts through sending an SMS with the name "GIRLCHILD" to 42513 to make a pledge of R30. More information can be found by visiting www.trek4mandela.com.
