The Nelson Mandela Book Drive continues to attract support from all corners of South Africa, with donors living Madiba’s legacy in helping realise a better quality of life for all.
One such donor is Johannesburg resident Mary Murphy, seen here handing over a generous collection of reading material to the Nelson Mandela Foundation recently, which will be donated to schools and charities in need.
Mary is collecting books from different sources like bookshops, schools and individuals, and hopes she can inspire others to get involved with this worthy cause.
The Nelson Mandela Book Drive was launched on 1 December 2014 in partnership with the Book People, aiming to collect 67 000 books and promote literacy over a period of three months.
All books ordered and paid for on the Book People website will be donated to the initiative, which forms a vital part of the Foundation’s work in helping to provide quality education for all.
