July 25, 2011 — The events surrounding the Ninth Annual Lecture also marked the ninth year of SAP Africa’s unwavering support of the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory. The business software solution company again showed its generosity by handing over a R1-million cheque to the Centre’s CEO Achmat Dangor on Friday evening, 22 July 2011, ahead of the lecture the following day.

This gesture stemmed from SAP Africa’s three-year commitment to donate R1-million a year to the Centre, supporting the work they do, while also ensuring that the legacy of Mr Nelson Mandela is continued.

“For us, it’s not just about making a contribution, but supporting what the Centre stands for,” said SAP Africa Managing Director Pfungwa Serima. He explained that change on the African continent in terms of building a sustainable future could only happen if corporations invest in the work done by organisations like the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory.

“We are very happy to be here, and will continue to do as much as we can for the Centre,” said Serima.

Dangor was grateful for the generous contribution. “Thank you very much for your support,” he told SAP Africa delegates. “I am confident that we can work together well into the future.”
