Below you will find a recap of the roundtable discussion held at the Nelson Mandela Foundation with Dr Mustafa Barghouti, in collaboration with the Palestinian Solidarity Alliance (PSA). Dr Mustafa Barghouti is the secretary general and co-founder of the Palestinian National Initiative (PNI). He is a physician by practice, an activist, writer and, more recently, has become viral on social media with some of his interviews. He has been a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) and the Palestinian Central Council (PCC), and has also served as a minister in the Palestinian unity government. He founded the Palestinian Medical Relief Society and is the president of the Union of Palestinian Medical Relief Committees. He was also nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2010.
The event was an intimate convening of 45 people and was held on the 10th of March 2024. This event gave context to the lived experiences of Palestinian people and issues related to resolving both the conflict in Gaza as well as the bigger project of achieving peace and justice for Palestinians.
