Teachers and learners at Sekutupu Primary School in Limpopo were overjoyed to receive a container library stacked with books and e-readers, handed over on 29 October 2014.
Sekutupu primary had applied for a library through the Department of Education four years ago, and has since been appealing to various organisations to assist them in their quest to provide sufficient learning material to the 831 hungry young minds at the school.
AIG Insurance heeded the call and donated a R203 000 container library, as well as a R9 000 book donation through the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s Mandela Day Container Library initiative.
Says Managing Director of AIG Africa, Wayne Abraham: “We are delighted to donate this container library full of books. Education and learning are so vital for the children of our country. This library will provide excellent resources for the pupils of Sekutupu Primary School preparing them for a better future.”
The Vodacom Change the World initiative donated the digital e-readers, each loaded with about 150 books, as well as a number of other reading materials for the school’s new library.
