On Saturday, 24 June, the Nelson Mandela Foundation hosted 70 children from Orange Farm through a partnership with Clean Touch Administrative Services. Clean Touch is an NPO working in Orange Farm with vulnerable children, providing after-school support and primary health care services in the community. The partnership was part of the initiative undertaken by the Foundation to address literacy and to expose young people to Mandela’s life Story through reading of the illustrated children’s version of Long Walk to Freedom.
Our guest reader, Ms Sandi Bota, held an interactive reading with the children which was followed by a guided tour of the permanent exhibition on the Life and Times of Nelson Mandela.
Sandi Bota is a teacher, singer-songwriter and aspiring children’s book writer, and loves children. She wants children to question more, think more and come up with solutions to intractable challenges facing society.
