Against the backdrop of the recent International Court of Justice (ICJ) interim ruling in relation to genocide in Gaza, which has sparked global conversation, reflection, and mobilisation, South African Jews for a Free Palestine and the Nelson Mandela Foundation extend an invitation to you to join us for an evening of commemoration and solidarity.
The evening will commence with a Shabbat service followed by remarks from esteemed speakers:
Minister Ronald Lamola: Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, offering insights on the significance of the ICJ case and the way forward from a South African government perspective.
Adv. Adila Hassim SC: One of the lawyers who represented South Africa at the ICJ, providing a legal perspective on recent developments and possible areas for future legal advocacy.
Prof. Haidar Eid: Associate Professor of Postcolonial and Postmodern Literature at Gaza's al-Aqsa University, sharing reflections and insights from the ground.
This gathering is open to all, emphasizing the importance of unity and solidarity across diverse faith communities. We welcome your presence and participation as we come together to honour those affected most directly and affirm our shared commitment to peace and justice.
We look forward to your presence and coverage at this significant event.
