On 10 July 2014, Mrs Graça Machel will delivery the keynote address at the Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA) Annual Lecture in the Great Hall of the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
Mrs Machel’s lecture will explore the meanings of African identity and its fluidity in a changing continent.
Exploring the appropriateness or otherwise of the maxim that "for the nation to live the tribe must die", Mrs Machel will discuss how this notion applies to, and impacts on, pan-African unity and whether the pooling of national sovereignties is possible.
