During Youth Month and over the year marking 10th anniversary of the passing of our Founder, the Foundation will add subtitles to all the video elements in our permanent exhibition The Life and Times of Nelson Mandela. This is to make it accessible to the hearing-impaired community. We have done this in conjunction with INX Prime, a lifestyle channel with an Islamic ethos.

In 2018, during Nelson Mandela’s birth centenary, we partnered with Lesego Community Services and added braille to the exhibition to cater for visually impaired people.

Razia Saleh, Head of Archive and Research explains that this is part of continuously reaching out to new audiences, especially those with specific needs who are often ignored “our aim is get as many people as possible to gain a rich and fulfilling experience when visiting the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory and engaging with the exhibition on Nelson Mandela”.

To view the exhibition, make an appointment by sending an email to bookings@nelsonmandela.org or call Ann-Young Maharaj +27115475600 for Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm

We are open on Saturday 9am to 4pm without making an appointment.
