On behalf of our Founder, Trustees and staff we send our condolences to the family, comrades and friends of the late Phyllis Naidoo, a fearless fighter against apartheid.
In 1967 her husband MD Naidoo was imprisoned and served his five-year sentence on Robben Island in the same cellblock as Nelson Mandela.
Mrs Naidoo herself suffered banning and harassment and went into exile. She was unbowed in her fight against apartheid and continued despite the repression against her and at times, the danger to her own life. She was seriously injured in a parcel bomb attack in Lesotho.
She returned to South Africa after Nelson Mandela’s release from prison. She lost her husband in 1995.
Hamba kahle.
