The Caring4Girls project, one of the main Mandela Day partners, has been nominated by the Centre for Public Service Innovation as a finalist in the upcoming 2014 Public Sector Innovation Awards.
Caring4Girls is an initiative by the Imbumba Foundation, which secures resources in order to donate sanitary towels to needy schoolgirls throughout the country. The project also teaches these underprivileged girls about hygiene and taking care of their bodies. Caring4Girls came to being following research that showed some girls lose up to 50 days of schooling because they cannot afford sanitary towels.
The awards will be held at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park on 31 October 2014.
