On Saturday, 25 November 2017, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina J Mohammed, delivered the 15th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Under the theme “Centering Gender: Reducing Inequality Through Inclusion”, Mohammed’s lecture focused on what she called “the most pervasive inequality globally – in every country and every society”, that of gender inequality.
