The Instituto Brasil África is bringing the exhibition "Mandela – World Icon of Reconciliation" to Brazil in collaboration with the Nelson Mandela Foundation. The exhibition will be on display in the arrivals area of Brasília International Airport from May 7 to June 10, 2024. Admission is free.
The exhibition is a profound tribute to the legacy of Nelson Mandela, a towering figure in the global struggle for justice, equality, and peace. Through a collection of 50 photographic panels, visitors will embark on an evocative journey through the remarkable life of this revolutionary leader.
"We are honoured to bring this inspiring exhibition to Brazil, offering a unique opportunity to reflect on the impact of Nelson Mandela's indomitable spirit and his unwavering commitment to peace," says Professor João Bosco Monte, president of Instituto Brasil África.
In addition to highlighting Mandela's reconciliatory nature, the exhibition offers a multifaceted portrait of the former South African president's life, from his early activism to his historic presidency.
According to Christopher Till, curator of the exhibition, Mandela's influence extended far beyond the borders of South Africa. "He actively engaged in international conflicts and made diplomatic visits to numerous countries, leaving a lasting impact on global perspectives on conflict resolution," comments the founder of the Javett Art Center in Pretoria.
The exhibition "Mandela – World Icon of Reconciliation" is designed to captivate audiences of all ages, backgrounds, and nationalities and will tour various Brazilian cities between 2024 and 2025.
