This resource is hosted by the Nelson Mandela Foundation, but was compiled and authored by Padraig O’Malley. It is the product of almost two decades of research and includes analyses, chronologies, historical documents, and interviews from the apartheid and post-apartheid eras.

Sithole, Jabu

Born in Lamontville, Natal, He was educated at the University of Zululand, Fort Hare University and the University of the Witwatersrand.

He joined the ANC in Lesotho in 1979 and then returned to Natal where he became involved in community projects. He joined the UDF, but was then arrested under the state of emergency and spent two years in prison from 1986 – 1988.  On his release he was recruited into Operation Vula and in 1990 was again arrested, but released when the charges were dropped.
