This resource is hosted by the Nelson Mandela Foundation, but was compiled and authored by Padraig O’Malley. It is the product of almost two decades of research and includes analyses, chronologies, historical documents, and interviews from the apartheid and post-apartheid eras.

Memela, Tootsie

Tootsie Memela grew up in Soweto and was part of the Soweto uprising in 1976. She left the country in 1977 and went to Swaziland where she joined the ANC.  In 1981/82 she underwent military training in Angola and did a year's training in Cuba. She worked with the Political Military Committee based in Mozambique.

She infiltrated people from Swaziland into South Africa, including Mac Maharaj and Siphiwe Nyanda.
