This resource is hosted by the Nelson Mandela Foundation, but was compiled and authored by Padraig O’Malley. It is the product of almost two decades of research and includes analyses, chronologies, historical documents, and interviews from the apartheid and post-apartheid eras.

Giliomee, Hermann

Giliomee was born in 1938. He is an historian and political analyst.

He was a prominent leader of the 'new generation' of Afrikaner academics that emerged during the 1980s. He was appointed head of the department of political studies at the University of Cape Town in 1988 and served as president of the South African Institute of Race Relations in the mid-1990s.

He has published numerous books and edited works (many in collaboration with Schlemmer, Lawrence), which include:
