Ebrahim, Hassen

Ebrahim was born in Ventersdorp and grew up in Pretoria.

He obtained his BA, LL B from the Universities of Botswana and Edinburgh in 1986. He practised law in Botswana until 1991 when he returned to SA after the unbanning of the ANC.  In 1992 he became the national co-ordinator for the ANC's Negotiations Commission. While serving as an MP in the Gauteng Legislature in 1994 he was appointed Executive Director of the Constitutional Assembly, a position he held throughout the Assembly's term until 1996. In 1997 he became the Deputy Director General of Corporate Services in the Department of Justice.
