Dommisse, Ebbe

Ebbe Dommisse was born on 14 July 1940 in Riversdale, South Africa. He completed his schooling at Paarl Boys High School and studied towards a Bachelor of Arts from Stellenbosch University and a Masters of Science degree from the Graduate Schoolof Journalism at Columbia University.

He pursued a career as a newspaperman, initially working for Die Burger as a reporter in 1961 and became news editor in 1971. He was appointed senior assistant editor of Beeld newspaper in Johannesburg from 1974, and then worked as the senior assistant editor of Die Burger in 1984, becoming editor in 1990. Dommisse was also a member of the managing board at Nasionale Media in Cape Town. He is now retired.

Dommisse has written extensively. He has co-authored with Alf Ries, and his books include Broedertwis (1982) and Leierstryd (1990).

He has been married to Magdalena since 1963 and has two sons and one daughter.
