1930. Riotous Assemblies Amendment Act No 19

According to Simons & Simons (1969: 430), this amendment aimed to "curb the liberation move~ent". It empowered the Govern.°r-General to prohibit the publIcatIon and dlssemmatIon of any 'documentary mformation ... calculated to engender feelings of hostility between the European inhabitants of the Union on the one hand and any other section of the inhabitants on the Union on the other" (Dugard 1978: 177). See the NATIVE ADMINISTRATION ACT of 1927.

It was amended by Section 1 of the GENERAL LAWS AMENDMENT ACT of 1974.
