1920. Housing Act

This act enabled funds to be "made available to local governments to build housing for the poor. The resultant estates were required to be racially segregated, separated from one another by open spaces and with separate access roads" (Christopher 1994: 38). It further created a Central Housing Board which was to overlook its implementation.
