1883. Mining Regulations

"Amended regulations of 1883 required all mine workers, other than managers, to wear uniforms and to strip naked in searching houses when they left work" (Simons & Simons 1969: 41). Actually, regulations had stipulated compulsory searching of non-White workers already in 1872 and 1880.
