1857. Kaffir Employment Act No 27

This "stipulated that Xhosa had fourteen days to find employment after the expiration ofa contract" (Crais 1992: 212).

Crais (1992: 194) mentions that ACTS 23 & 27 of 1857, presumably referring to this and the KAFFIR PASS ACT, were amended in 1867 (possibly by the VAGRANCY ACT).
